Notes/Trivia:
- Greg Berlanti's feature film debut as writer and director. His script was semi-autobiographical; he based it on his own circle of friends, and the Howie/Marshall storyline was based on a relationship Berlanti once had.
- Kerr Smith, who played gay student Jack McPhee on Dawson Creek (which Greg Berlanti was a writer and producer of) has a cameo appearance in the film.
- The film's soundtrack includes two classic songs by The Carpenters, "(They Long to Be) Close to You" and "We've Only Just Begun", covered by Mary Beth Maziarz.
