Synopsis:
Guy Bennett, a young gay man attending boarding school in 1930s England, yearns to ascend the social ladder. Yet his plans are waylaid by the attentions of an attractive classmate.

- Julian Mitchell's play Another Country (which had its world premiere in London in 1981) was loosely based on the life of Guy Burgess (renamed "Guy Bennett" in the play and film), a key figure in the Cambridge Spy Ring of the 1940's.
- Rupert Everett originated the role of Guy Burgess on stage. One of his successors in the role was his future film co-star Colin Firth.
